Mark O'Connor called to the Manx Bar

Callin Wild is delighted to announce that Mark O'Connor has been formally called to the Manx Bar, having passed his exams at his first attempt in May 2023. Mark was sworn in as an Isle of Man advocate by the Island’s First Deemster, His Honour Deemster Corlett, at a formal ceremony on 16 October 2024.

Mark joined Callin Wild as a Trainee Advocate in October 2022. Born and educated on the Isle of Man, Mark was Head Boy at St Ninians’s High School before leaving the Island and going on to graduate with a first-class honour’s degree in Law LLB from Keele University and a commendation in his Legal Practice Course from Liverpool John Moores University. Whilst at University, Mark was President of the Law Society and is currently the Treasurer for the Junior Lawyers Association.

During his training, Mark has gained valuable experience in the areas of commercial and civil litigation, employment, private client, property and trust disputes. Mark now sits in Callin Wilds' renowned litigation team where he has quickly developed a busy practice across Callin Wilds’ core area of commercial litigation and employment working with both international and local clients.

Mark Commented: "This is a moment I have been waiting for a long time after years of study and training and I am absolutely delighted to be called to the Manx Bar and I look forward to this next chapter in my professional career. If I had to pick a highlight during my articles it would when I successfully appealed against the decision of the Social Security Division to reduce the level of Disability Living Allowance for a registered blind person in the Isle of Man Social Security Appeal Tribunal. I would like to thank my family, friends and my colleagues at Callin Wild who have been instrumental in helping me to reach this point in my career through their support and guidance."

Fletcher Craine, Partner commented: “Everyone at Callin Wild wishes to congratulate Mark on qualifying as a Manx Advocate. This is a significant achievement, reflecting his hard work and dedication to the legal profession. We are proud of his accomplishment and we are confident he will provide a valuable contribution to both Callin Wild and the Isle of Man’s legal community. Well done, Mark!”
